These one minute Tree Stories from the Carlow Garden Festival range from simple heartfelt declarations for the natural world to historical stories from the 1700’s, from comical police searches for tree climbing gorillas to forest bathing
This story comes horticulturalist Carol Marks, her Tree Story on the Cherry Blossom is recorded at the Garden Festival event at the Aboretum Home and Garden Heaven

My name is Carol Marks I am a horticulturist. I absolutely adore trees in all shapes and forms my particular favorite is the Prunus Kanzan , the double flowered cherry blossom .
It was our street tree when I was growing up , and very late April early May ,
the blossoms would be full and stunning on the trees.
Of course the wind would come and pull the blossoms and petals off the trees.
It was like confetti. It was just such a remarkable sight to see.
So when I bought my first house I planted a weeping Kanzan in my front garden .
And then in years to come I knew my forever home was going to be my forever home because when we went to view it there was a mature Prunus Kanzan in the garden
Then in 2007 to cap it all off I was very fortunate to visit Japan
and be there for Cherry Blossom time , so it was a dream come true.

Memory Palace of Tree Stories is a socio-ecological art practice which invites you to tell a story or share information about trees . It is a creative-led social enquiry of how we can live well for both personal and collective wellbeing. Your story can be any kind of tree story , a personal tree story, an ecological tree story , an environmental tree story, an historical tree story or even a botanical tree story. I do hope you can contribute a comment on how we can live better with the greater community of life.
