These one minute Tree Stories from the Carlow Garden Festival range from simple heartfelt declarations for the natural world to historical stories from the 1700’s, from comical police searches for tree climbing gorillas to forest bathing
Delighted to get this story by Paul and Kay O’Neill who were at the Carlow Garden Festival event at An Gairdin Beo Summer 2023.

Kay’s words：
Years ago my two boys went to Bishop Foley School and gave out the acorns.
I still have those two trees in my front garden .
They must be going on 35 years now . I love trees myself , I think they add so much to our mental health and diversity.
Paul’s words:
They introduce birds into the garden I have 60 trees in it they have grown quite big now and they have all introduce birds.
Kay’s words:
As I hate chemicals , always did , never had sprays , everything is wild so we have an eco garden .
Paul’s words:
We’ve seen owls at night there as well. We had bats in our attic . In fact our alarm went off one night when we were on holidays
And we couldn’t understand with no access to the house and we discovered a night later that there was a bat going around the house.
Kay’s words:
We are getting away from our trees …
Paul’s words:
But I think that they (trees) introduced it (bats).

Open Call for your just a minute Tree Story on video
Memory Palace of Tree Stories is a socio-ecological art practice which invites you to tell a story or share information about trees . It is a creative-led social enquiry of how we can live well for both personal and collective wellbeing. Your story can be any kind of tree story , a personal tree story, an ecological tree story , an environmental tree story, an historical tree story or even a botanical tree story. I do hope you can contribute a comment on how we can live better with the greater community of life.
