Fireflies in the Heart Exhibition- Tree Stories on video
“ Fireflies in the heart “ opened recently at Top Cloud Space, Meijie resort in Liyang ,Changzhou. It focuses on the balance between nature and urban life, the interaction between species, questioning the role of humanity in the global eco system. Two different compilations of Tree Stories on video were exhibited and will continue to be exhibited till mid October in this group exhibition of fifteen artists .
Fireflies hold a strong cultural significance in China, seen as they are often associated not just with warm summer evenings but also with romantic settings. In traditional Chinese poetry and literature, fireflies are often depicted as symbols of love, beauty, and the ephemeral nature of life. Nowadays an exceedingly rare species, the country including the area around Meijie Mountain has taken measures to protect them, for example by prohibiting the use of pesticides and vehicles in their habitat as well as limiting the amount of people who can visit and protecting the surrounding nature that the fireflies inhabit.
This exhibition talks of our responsibility to protect the nature not only for our present generation but also for the generations to come.
