Rachel Roberts contemplates the greater community of life and the future as she plants her tree on a river bank .

Rachels words:

My Tree is a hopeful thing

Full of potentiality for what we might become

It’s branches will live longer than any fruit I may bear

Telling stories I will have long forgotten how to tell

to people who will not remember me.

My Tree is a beautiful thing

Full of wonderment of how giant it might become

Its roots clutching soil ripe with a lifeforce that will outlive even the last of us.

Whispering its secrets to those who dare to listen

My tree is a tragic thing for it knows much of what we have chosen not to remember

Yet it will forever offer us its forgiveness and always always its shade.

My Tree is a hopeful thing full of potentiality for what we might become .
