So very happy to get this Tree Story from Pam Butler who lives outside Carlow. With help from Caoilte and Uplift, she and her family have planted 500 trees on their land this year .

Pam’s Words
The world was once a forest , the forest floor composted and compressed for millions of years and became fossil fuel.
We used those fossil fuels within two centuries, exploding our population and unwittingly ravaging the earths resources including trees to feed ourselves and the animals we eat.
Ursula Le Guins novel ’The Word for World is Forest‘ is a story in which we humans plunder other planets for trees , a resource we could have saved ourselves. Is it really fiction?
The trees are our lungs, we must reforest , in Ireland and around the world .
We were so glad to begin planting nearly 500 trees this spring, with donations from Caoilte and Uplift .
Alex from Uplift and her Sons came to help us.
I love trees, don’t you? They love us back , let’s plant more .

Open Call for your tree story on video
Memory Palace of Tree Stories is a socio-ecological art practice which invites you to tell a story or share information about trees . It is a creative-led social enquiry of how we can live well for both personal and collective wellbeing. Your story can be any kind of tree story , a personal tree story, an ecological tree story , an environmental tree story, an historical tree story or even a botanical tree story. I do hope you can contribute a comment on how we can live better with the greater community of life.
The year 2023 we continue to gather your stories in the form of one minute videos and we are really looking forward to hearing your tree story . I can be contacted directly on this platform or on the contact page on this website.
